Time for your car's spring cleaning!

Spring is just around the corner, and that means it's time to rid your car of stubborn dirt and residual salt. A thorough post-winter wash helps prevent corrosion and rust. We share 4 essential steps for your post-winter wash!

1

Washing your wheels

Make your rims shine again and give your tyres back their black look!

2

Foam it up

Get rid of salt and stubborn dirt, clean all corners and grooves.

3

Decontami-nation

Goodbye contamination! Remove caked-on dirt.

4

Interior

Time to remove half the forest at your feet.

01 | Wheel wash

Prevent corrosion. Now that winter is over, your wheels and wheel arches can definitely use some extra attention.

Winter roads leave a nasty mix of salt and dirt that can lead to corrosion if left untreated. Therefore, start by loosening the dirt using a pressure washer and foam.

Scrub the wheel arches with a firm brush and a citrus cleaner or a diluted all-purpose cleaner. Use a firm brush for the wheel arches and a softer microfibre brush for the rims.

As an extra, you can take off your rims for an even more thorough cleaning. To do this, use a rim cleaner and then a brush and citrus cleaner to reach the hard-to-reach spots behind the spokes.

Don't forget your tyres! Scrub them with a tyre cleaner and a brush. End with a tyre dressing to make them look new again and protect them from the elements.

Expert: Want to take it up a level?

When you switch from winter to summer tyres, it is the perfect time to give your rims a refresh and protect them. Give your winter set a good clean before storing them, but also give your summer rims the attention they deserve.

Now that the wheels are off, this is the ideal time to apply a spray sealant or apply a coating aan te brengen, so that they not only look nice for longer, but also stay better protected.

02 | Foam it up

A good pre-wash will already loosen much of the dirt on your car.

A thorough pre-wash does the heavy lifting: it breaks down and loosens dirt, making the rest of your wash a lot easier.

For best cleaning, use a pressure washerlance and a foam cannon to lather your car completely, from top to bottom. So don't forget the underside too! With a 90° lance reach even the most difficult spots.

Pay extra attention to details such as air vents, door gaps, grills, logos and panel gaps, as salt quickly accumulates there. Use a boar bristle detailing brush to give the foam in these areas extra working.

PS: No pressure washer? The IK eFoam Pro 2, an electric foam sprayer, is an ideal alternative.

03 | Decontaminate

The arrival of a new season is the perfect reminder to decontaminate your car.

Use a decontaminating shampoo such as Restart Wash When preparing your car for spring. This helps remove accumulated dirt and deposits loosely.

After washing, you can immediately apply a protective coat for long-lasting results. For quick and easy protection we recommend WetCoat . Want more durable protection? Find out how to apply wax!

Do you have a coating on your car? A decontaminating shampoo will give it another boost and restore its capabilities.

04 | Interior

The interior of your car suffers from winter as much as the exterior of your car.

You are not there yet! Make your car really spring-ready with a fresh and clean interior.

Salt, dirt and dust from outside inevitably find their way inside.

Start by removing the floor mats and thoroughly vacuum both these and the entire interior. For a deeper clean, use a textilecleaner and a brush to remove stubborn dirt and stains.

Do you have a (vegan) leather interior? Then the process works the same, but use to remove stubborn dirt and stains. Specific products that are specially developed for (vegan) leather.

Tip: Finish with a textile coating to keep your results longer. Work the protection in with a leather brush to ensure an even spread.
