What is so special about the Magic Sponge?
Melamine foam is a remarkable material. It feels like a regular sponge, but actually acts like an extremely fine sandpaper: the microscopic structure of the foam scours away the dirt instead of dissolving it. This means you often don't need any cleaning agent at all, just water.
ADBL's Magic Sponge applies this principle to detailing work. It tackles heavy contamination on hard and porous surfaces, such as plastic, vinyl, and textured parts where dirt has settled into the grain. Right where a cloth simply slides over the dirt, this sponge does its work. With dimensions of approximately 10 x 6 x 2 cm, it feels comfortable in the hand and can be cut down for precision work.
It is important to understand what this material does. Because it has an abrasive action, it removes a microscopic layer of the surface with every motion, and the sponge itself gradually wears down as well. Therefore, use it selectively on areas that need it, and not on painted parts, high-gloss piano-black finishes, displays, or polished metal. When in doubt, always test on an inconspicuous spot first.

How do you use Magic Sponge?
- First, determine if the surface is suitable. Use the sponge on hard, matte plastic and textured parts, and not on paint, high-gloss finishes, displays, or polished metal.

- Wet the sponge with clean water and squeeze it out lightly. A cleaning agent is not necessary.
- Work with light pressure and short movements. Let the foam do the work and do not press hard, as this increases the abrasive action.
- Check the result regularly and stop as soon as the dirt is gone, rather than continuing to work.
- Wipe down the area afterwards with a clean microfiber cloth to remove loosened dirt and foam residue.
- Rinse the sponge after use and let it dry. Replace it when it is visibly worn or crumbling.
