What is so special about the Clay Bar Violet?
If your paint still feels rough after washing, there are particles embedded in the surface that washing alone cannot remove. A clay bar pulls those out and makes your paint glass-smooth again. ADBL's Clay Bar Violet is the medium-hard variant and therefore the most versatile choice: more powerful than the soft orange clay, but milder than the hard grey one.
This purple clay tackles all typical residues: tree sap, tar, brake dust (rail dust), paint overspray, and mineral deposits such as water spots, plus general baked-on dirt. For most paints and an average degree of contamination, this is the balance between cleaning power and safety, and a logical first choice if you only want to have one hardness at home.
Never use a clay bar dry. Always use it with a lubricant such as ADBL Slippy so that the clay glides smoothly over the paint without scratches. Each pack contains 2 pieces of 50 grams. As long as you don't drop it, the clay is reusable: store it in a jar with some water and shampoo.

How do you use Clay Bar Violet?
- Wash and dry the car completely first so there is no coarse dirt left on the paint.
- Knead a piece of clay gently and optionally soak it briefly in lukewarm water until it is pliable. Shape it into a flat disc that fits in your hand.
- Spray the area to be treated generously with a clay lubricant such as ADBL Slippy. Work on a small area at a time.
- Move the clay with light pressure in straight lines (not in circles) over the wet surface until the roughness disappears.
- Fold the clay over regularly so you always work with a clean side and don't drag absorbed dirt back across the paint.
- Wipe the area afterward with a clean microfiber cloth and check if the paint feels smooth. Repeat if necessary.
- Never use the clay again if it falls on the ground. Otherwise, store it in a sealed jar with water and some shampoo for a future detailing session.
