What is so special about the Clay Bar Rainbow Set?
Not every paint or type of contamination requires the same approach, and that is precisely what this set caters to. ADBL's Clay Bar Rainbow Set contains three clay bars of increasing hardness: soft (orange) for sensitive paints and light contamination, medium-hard (purple) as a versatile middle ground, and hard (grey) for the heaviest, baked-on residues. Each block weighs 50 grams, totaling 150 grams of clay.
A clay bar pulls contamination from your paint that remains after washing and makes the surface feel rough: tree sap, tar, brake dust (rail dust), paint overspray, and mineral deposits such as water spots. After treatment, your paint feels glass-smooth again, the ideal preparation for polishing, wax, or a coating.
With this set, you always choose the right hardness: when in doubt, start with the softest and only work coarser where necessary. The blocks are flexible, safe for the paint, and reusable. Always work them with a lubricant like ADBL Slippy, never dry, so you work without scratches.

How do you use the Clay Bar Rainbow Set?
- Wash and dry the car completely first so there is no coarse dirt left on the paint.
- Choose the correct hardness: when in doubt, start with the soft (orange) one and only switch to purple or grey where the contamination or paint type requires it.
- Knead the chosen block gently and optionally soak it briefly in lukewarm water. Shape it into a flat disc.
- Spray the area to be treated generously with a clay lubricant such as ADBL Slippy and work on a small area at a time.
- Move the clay with light pressure in straight lines (not in circles) over the wet surface until the roughness disappears.
- Fold the clay over regularly so you work with a clean side, and wipe each area afterward with a clean microfiber cloth.
- Always discard a dropped block. Otherwise, store the clays in a sealed jar filled about a third with water and some shampoo, ready for the next session.
