BILT HAMBER KORROSOL
What's so special about the Korrosol?
You might not have noticed it when you look at your paintwork, but the next time it's washed and clean, lightly touch it, especially the horizontal panels: hood, trunk lid, roof, etc. Gently with your fingertips, you'll feel a rough, gritty feel. You might think this is dust falling from the sky—but it isn't. Airborne metal particles released during braking, such as brake pads and brake rotors, fill the air along our roads. When the car in front of you brakes, your car passes through these hot metal particles, leaving them in your paintwork.
How these particles destroy paint
Here they react with rainwater or moisture and begin to corrode. The corrosion product (rust) takes up four times as much space as iron, and the paint slowly cracks around the embedded particle. This action destroys both the aesthetic and protective qualities of the vehicle's paint.
Fast and effective...just wash it off
Although aggressive acids such as phosphoric and oxalic acids can be used effectively to remove the contamination, these acids do not distinguish between corrosion and good steel, nor even the paint layers themselves, so while the particle is being removed, base metals or coatings may also be attacked.
Korrosol's effective formula is simply sprayed onto the contaminated panel. A rapid and dramatic color change occurs, indicating that the affected area is water-soluble. A water rinse then clears the panel of metal inclusions.
