What is so special about the Roller R125 Backing Plate?
The backing plate connects your polishing machine to your pad, and its diameter completely determines how you work. A large plate makes quick work of flat panels, but on narrow sections, in corners, and around protruding parts, you need a smaller one just to make flat contact.
This series of backing plates is made for the rotary ADBL Roller R125 and features an M14 thread, the standard connection for rotary polishing machines. The smaller diameters are intended for precision work: targeted correction of a specific scratch, or working on areas where a full-sized plate doesn't fit.
A strong point of the smallest sizes is that they work exceptionally well with an extension. This allows you to reach places that would otherwise remain inaccessible: deeply recessed parts, the area around spoilers and aerodynamic elements, or tight corners between panels. Precisely the kind of work that is usually skipped during a full correction job.
The plate is equipped with hook-and-loop fasteners, allowing you to switch between pads quickly and without tools. Always choose your pad diameter to match the plate.

How do you use the Roller R125 Backing Plate?
- Check that your machine has an M14 thread before mounting the plate.
- Ensure the machine is switched off and unplugged before attaching the plate.
- Screw the plate firmly onto the spindle and check that it rotates without play or vibrations.
- If necessary, use an extension with the smaller sizes to reach hard-to-reach areas, and check that the entire assembly runs stably.
- Press your polishing pad centrally and evenly onto the hook-and-loop fastener. A crookedly placed pad causes vibrations and uneven correction.
- Always start with the pad against the panel and only lift it when the machine has come to a complete stop. Work at a lower speed with small plates, as heat builds up faster there.
- Regularly clean the hook-and-loop fastener of compound residue and store the plate flat.
