What's the best way to clean your dirty motocross bike for a like-new result?

Whether you ride daily or just on weekends, your motorcycle has to deal with a lot of dirt. Rain, insects, dust, brake dust, and tar quickly accumulate. Washing your motorcycle regularly and properly not only keeps it looking good, but also safer and performing better.

Preservation of paint & parts - Protects against corrosion, oxidation and discoloration
Better performance & visibility - Clean lighting, cooling and chain operation
Safety & sustainability - Dirt-free brakes, clear visibility and longer life

STEP 1: Preparation!

Place your motorcycle on the center stand or paddock stand. Let it cool completely and remove loose dirt with a gentle jet of water.

STEP 2: Pre-wash!

Apply a pre-wash foam using a foam lance or hand spray. This removes most dirt without rubbing. Let it sit briefly and rinse. Remove stubborn insects with an insect remover such as Q²M Bug & Grime or Bug Off Insect Remover.

STEP 3: Handwash

Use a shampoo that's safe for paintwork, plastic, and metal parts. Use two buckets: one with shampoo and one with clean rinse water. Want a protective, dirt-repellent layer on your paintwork? Use a shampoo with a light wetcoat, such as Q²M Bathe+.

STEP 4: Clean the drive and chain!

Mud accumulates between the links. Clean your chain with a chain cleaner and brush (MaxShine Tire Scrub Brush), then rinse and let dry. Use a degreaser to remove excess grease, and don't forget to re-grease your chain afterward!

STEP 5: Aftercare & lubrication!

Rinse the engine thoroughly. Dry with microfiber or use a blower to blow water out of the cracks and radiator fins. Don't rub your radiator fins with a towel, as this can wrinkle them and impair their performance or, in a worst-case scenario, render them useless.
